About Me

Anjelica is a product of her living in the diverse city of Detroit, Michigan, and her multi-split heritage of African American, Caucasian, Native American, and Trinidadian. From a very young age, Anjelica was addicted to different ethnic cultures and media which all seem to revolve around Japanese anime. Anjelica started to draw ethnic women characters that mimic the Japanese anime style. In 2000, Anjelica attended College for Creative Studies (CCS) to hone her skills in both animation and illustration. From there she went to Miami where she received a Master's degree in Visual Arts in Fine Arts from Ai Miami International University of Art and Design. Inspired by the sea-life and vibrant colors, Anjelica began creating what she fondly calls her "Bubble Girls".

Her unique style merges what teens see daily − different media, cartoons, magazine, and popular culture combined with the huge merging of other cultures like Japan.  Anjelica uses and combines these influencers to make artwork that speaks to her generation of contemporary young adults, teens, and especially ethnic women.
